The harbour area, where the Bar Marina is situated, is known as the "Venice of the Canaries". It is a pedestrianised low-rise development with roof terraces bursting with colourful plants, and gardens with hibiscus hedges, banana trees, palms and bird-of-paradise plants.
Puerto de Mogan has some excellent restaurants, including the Bar Marina restaurant, serving fish caught locally and other Canarian and international specialities. There are two banks, three supermarkets and shops selling clothes, souvenirs, jewellery and much more. For the artistic there are two galleries. On Fridays there is a large market where you can buy almost anything.
The sandy beach, protected by a breakwater which makes it ideal for safe swimming faces south and steps lead into the sea from the pool area of the Club del Mar. Those who want more excitement than swimming and sunbathing can hire jet ski's, go parascending, take a scuba diving course, go deep sea fishing or take a submarine trip round a local wreck.
Puerto Mogán is well served by buses to other resorts on the island but why not take a trip on the ferry to Puerto Rico or Arguineguín - the view of the coast is spectacular. If you want to tell your friends back home what a great time you are having, then the quickest way is to pop into the local cybercafe and email them.
As we said on the homepage, a well-known British comsumer magazine gave Puerto Mogan a glowing report in a recent holiday issue, and even gave our contact number for apartments enquiries. Have you guessed which magazine it is yet?
